Summary
At Vrbo, we do not allow disruptive or unauthorized events at homes listed on our platform. This policy provides examples of what is not allowed, outlines responsibilities for hosts and guests, and explains the consequences for guests or hosts who violate this policy.
What is not allowed
Any event that we determine to be disruptive or is otherwise in violation of this policy is not allowed.
Indications of an event that is in violation of this policy include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Any event that violates the host’s house rules, as posted on the property description page during the guest’s booking experience
- Any event that violates occupancy limits, applicable local laws, or public health limits on safe gathering size
- Any event that causes neighborhood disruption or nuisance, including excessively loud noise, an overcrowded street, vandalism, littering, parking nuisances, or trespassing
- Events are a frequent occurrence at a property, are disruptive to the neighborhood, and the host has failed to take reasonable and appropriate steps to prevent the repeat or ongoing disruption
- Any event where the guest intentionally disguised, lied, or falsified information provided to the host about their stay
- An event where the guest posted open invitations to the event, such as on social media
- Any event where the hosts or guests did not take action to mitigate the disruption to the neighborhood
- Any event that is in any other way unauthorized or disruptive
Host responsibilities
We recommend that hosts take reasonable steps to prevent disruptive or unauthorized events by, for example:
- establishing lines of communication with neighbors, so they can alert hosts if there is a disruptive event; or
- proactively monitoring their property by considering the use of noise-monitoring devices. Hosts should always respect guests’ privacy and ensure that use of such devices complies with our Surveillance Devices Policy.
If hosts suspect that a booking has been made for a disruptive or unauthorized event, they should reach out to the guest and confirm the purpose of their trip and remind them of this policy.
If hosts believe an unauthorized or disruptive event is being held at a property, hosts should contact local authorities in case of an emergency and notify Vrbo.
Enforcement
If we become aware of a disruptive or unauthorized event at a property (including where a booking was made on another platform), we will investigate and take appropriate action, including suspension or termination.
