Summary
This policy explains what’s expected of hosts who have firearms or other weapons in their home and of guests who wish to bring them to a stay.
Weapons in the home
- Hosts may only keep weapons in their home if they comply with all applicable laws regarding the possession and storage of weapons where the property is located.
- Hosts must disclose any weapons in the listing’s House Rules.
- Hosts must securely store any functional weapons, so they are not accessible to guests (for example, locked in cases or cabinets). All firearms must also be stored unloaded.
- Any decorative or non-functional weapons in the home, such as decommissioned firearms and swords, they must be disclosed in the listing’s House Rules and stored or mounted so they cannot be used by guests.
- If a guest finds a weapon in a home that wasn’t disclosed in the host’s House Rules and/or isn’t securely stored, they may ask the host to remove the weapons or securely store them. The host must honor this request.
- If a guest feels unsafe, we recommend contacting local emergency services or law enforcement for assistance. Otherwise, please contact Support.
Bringing weapons to a home
- Guests may only bring weapons to a stay if permitted by the host’s House Rules or if they obtain the host’s consent prior to check-in.
- Guests bringing weapons to a home must comply with all applicable laws regarding possession and storage of the weapons.
